ROXBURY, NJ (March 15, 2019) – Roxbury High School sophomores, Jonathan Fragale and Hailey Gabloff were both accepted into the Eastern Wind Symphony Youth Band for the 2019 season. This will be Jonathan’s second season with the ensemble.

The Youth Band practices and performs alongside talented adult musicians of the Eastern Wind Symphony including Roxbury’s own instrumental music teachers, Sarah Bednarcik and Ray Henricksen.

Students will also work with Todd Nichols, former RHS Director of Bands, who is the artistic director for the Eastern Wind Symphony.

According to the Eastern Wind Symphony Youth Band website, “The Eastern Wind Symphony Youth Band serves to artistically engage talented young musicians through the exploration and performance of high-quality wind band literature while promoting musical growth, educating students about the history of the wind band medium, and encouraging social and emotional growth.”

Its goal is “to provide a venue for talented student musicians to perform a variety of advanced wind band repertoire while supporting the educational goals of local school music programs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.”

The 2018/2019 season runs from March through June ending with two concerts. One on Sunday, June 9th at 3 p.m. featuring the EWS Youth Band and an EWS Chamber group and the other on Saturday, June 22nd at 8 p.m. in Princeton featuring EWS Youth Band and the Eastern Wind Symphony.
