ROXBURY, NJ (April 4, 2019) – Roxbury Indoor Percussion ended their 2019 season in first place in Scholastic A Class at the USBands Indoor Percussion Championships at Fair Lawn High School on March 31st. Although this group has competed in Championships before, this is the first time that Roxbury has placed first at this event.

Roxbury Indoor Percussion Roxbury competed against three other groups in Championships. Out of four judged categories, Roxbury placed first in Music, Visual, and Visual Effect and finished with an overall score of 92.75.

Roxbury Indoor Percussion Co-Director Shannon Perrone shared, “Roxbury Indoor Percussion was also thrilled to take first place out of fourteen groups who competed in the Scholastic A Class through the Mid Atlantic Percussion Society competition circuit - another first for Roxbury Indoor Percussion! Roxbury Indoor Percussion competed in three other events with USBands, finishing in second and third place at these competitions.”

This year’s show, “We Built Our Own World” features musical arrangements by David Reeves and show design by Michael Thompson. The show tells a story of the manic energy of a new project, reflective qualities as the idea is beginning to take shape and the excitement of it all coming together.

Perrone added, “The group of thirty-five students began working on the music for the show in December and began putting it together with the drill, visuals, and movement in early January. Thirty students performed on keyboards, guitars, and percussion instruments, while five students were the visual ensemble, moving and utilizing props throughout.”
