Social Media Marketing Opportunity Available for Some RHS Students in 2019/2020

Social Media Marketing Opportunity for 2019/2020 with Centenary University Tim Guella with RHS Students at an Information Session with students ROXBURY, NJ (February 8, 2019) – Juniors and Seniors at Roxbury High School next year will have an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. In an effort to improve the educational opportunities available to some students, the Roxbury Board of Education adopted a resolution in November teaming up with Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ to offer a Social Media Marketing course. This course will be taught by an RHS Teacher.

Centenary University’s Social Media Marketing dual enrollment is ideal for high schools who are interested in empowering students to pursue in-demand careers directly focused on social media, such as copywriting or strategy, as well as related careers in advertising and marketing.

Roxbury High School students will receive four college credits upon successful completion of the course. The course will cost students $359 per RHS student which includes the cost of the textbook.

Current eleventh and twelfth graders met with Tim Guella from Centenary University and Michael Mitchell, Roxbury’s Director of Instructional Innovation on January 10th to talk about this new dual enrollment opportunity for students at Roxbury for next year.

This course will provide an overview of Social Media and its application to the business setting. The course will include a hands-on view of Social Media Marketing tools and Social Media platforms, while incorporating current topics from this dynamic field. The main focus will be on using Social Media for business and leveraging Social Media from a marketing perspective, including listening to customers and building brands on the social web.
