Roxbury Goes Global with Multi-Cultural Expo

Roxbury Goes Global with Multi-Cultural Expo

ROXBURY, NJ (March 8, 2017) – The Roxbury Township Public Schools invited the public to help them celebrate the worlds cultures and countries at its Global Hi-5 Multi-Cultural Expo on February 16th at Roxbury High School.

More than 500 guests were in attendance to view these country’s cultures as they were authentically represented with music and dance performances, diversity of cuisines, crafts, culture, and history.

All attendees immersed themselves and stamped their “passports” as they experienced an authentic trip throughout the world visiting all the countries represented.

Over 25 participant entities and community members volunteered their time to share their cultures including each of the district schools, school clubs, scout troops, community organizations, and businesses.

Marcia Cordiero, one of the event co-coordinators and foreign language teacher at Eisenhower Middle School explained how “our event served as a gigantic stepping stone, bridging the gap between cultures within our community. We have contributed and helped our community’s awareness of the cultural diversity that surrounds us without us even knowing it.”

Cordiero went on to say, “It’s important to have such an awesome event because it goes hand-in-hand with our district’s mission to be a dynamic and thriving district, in partnership with a supportive and collaborative community while inspiring and empowering all of its learners to flourish as ethical and global citizens in the 21st century.”

A group of volunteers including parents in the community, teachers, and students collaborated to achieve one goal, to be a global citizen.

“Our favorite part of our event was to have all become one,” shared Cordiero.
