Four Roxbury Band Students Earn Musical Honors

Four Roxbury Band Students Earn Musical Honors  ROXBURY, NJ (February 15, 2019) – The North Jersey School Music  

ROXBURY, NJ (February 15, 2019) – The North Jersey School Music Association held its annual Junior Region 1 Band auditions on February 2nd, where hundreds of students grades 7-9 competed to earn a seat in one of two honors bands. 

Four students from Roxbury were accepted into one of the ensembles and will participate in three rehearsals before putting on a concert at Randolph High School at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 3rd. 

Roxbury High School freshmen Christian Maroulis earned the principal clarinet chair in the Concert Band and Andrew Wilson earned second chair french horn in Symphonic Winds (placing second overall). Additionally, Eisenhower Middle School seventh-grader Justin Masi earned principal trombone in Symphonic Winds (placing first overall) and EMS eighth grader Brennan Andrews earned principal tuba in the Concert Band. 

In addition, the New Jersey Music Educators Association held its annual NJ All-State Band auditions on January 19, 2019, where high school students from every county in NJ competed to earn a seat in one of two honor bands. In order to be eligible to audition, students must first earn a place in their respective Region Bands. 

RHS sophomore Zachary Solano earned high honors placing principal tuba in the Symphonic Band (third overall in the state) as well as earning a spot as principal tuba in the 2019 NJ All-State Symphonic Orchestra. Zachary will participate in rehearsals at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts before putting on a concert at the beautiful New Jersey Performing Arts Center located in Newark.
