Director of Special Services

 

I am so excited to be part of the Roxbury Public Schools! Since my graduation in 2001 from The College of New Jersey with a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education, I have had a wide range of experiences.  During my time as a classroom teacher, I taught Special Education on both the elementary and middle school levels.  Additionally, I taught both 3^rd and 4^th grade General Education classes and served as the literacy teacher in a departmentalized setting.  I also worked as the building based Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant in an elementary school that served students in Kindergarten and 3^rd through 5^th grades.

 

Prior to joining the team at Roxbury, I had 6 years of administrative experience, serving as Supervisor of Special Services,  Director of Special Services and Director of Elementary Education and Intervention. As Director of Special Services,  I worked closely with other district administrators to assess the effectiveness of programs within our schools and revise these programs accordingly to meet the ever changing and diverse needs of students. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with content area coaches and interventionists to evaluate our framework for interventions and plan for improvements in this area, focusing on enhancing tiers 1 and 2 in an MTSS framework. Further, I worked closely with CST members to ensure the creation of appropriate Individualized Education Programs for all students. 

 

It is my goal to continue to combine my range of experiences with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic and intelligent leader who will make a positive contribution to the Roxbury Public Schools!
