Mrs. Gail LaCosta

Work Experience:  I have worked in the field of education since 2014.  Prior to becoming a school counselor, I was an in-home behavioral assistant and masters-level therapist in Morris and Sussex County.

Philosophy: • All children are unique and should be treated with respect and dignity • Every student can succeed • Learning is a lifelong process • Fostering a positive self-image is the collaborative effort of the school, home, and community which leads to responsible and productive citizenship •  A comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program is not a support service but an integral part of the total education program • A developmentally appropriate school counseling program provides important benefits to individual students by addressing their intellectual, emotional, social, physical and psychological needs.

Who I Am:  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  My husband and I recently had our first daughter.  In addition, we have a dog and cat, who are both named after Disney characters.    I am a high school cheerleading coach for Roxbury High School.  I absolutely love to travel and have been to about 20 States and 10 different countries.   One of the best experiences I've had in my life was the opportunity to study abroad in college.  I attended a university in Costa Rica where I studied the Spanish language and culture.  An added bonus was this is also where I learned to surf.
