Nixon Food Policy
Nixon School, in accordance with the Roxbury School District's Food Policy, does not permit the trading or sharing of food in honor of birthdays, class parties &/or seasonal festivals. Click here for ideas for alternatives.
**Therefore, it is very important that you remind your children not to share or trade any food in school.
Since snacks are consumed in the classroom, if a student in your child's classroom has a serious contact food allergy, we will alert you in the beginning of the year to refrain from sending snacks for your child to be consumed in the classroom that contain the offending ingredient(s).
To accommodate students with peanut/nut allergies, we will continue to offer a "Peanut/Tree Nuts Free" table in the cafeteria. Any student who wishes to sit with a friend, at this particular table, must buy the "Main" lunch of the day from the cafeteria, as the Main lunch does not contain any peanut/nut ingredients.
We understand that these policies might be difficult, but your compliance will help to keep the children at Nixon School safe from adverse reactions.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter and helping to make Nixon a safe environment for all children!
