Dr. Christopher Zegar

Who I Am: I am a Roxbury native who graduated from the district in 1998, and now raises his family here. I received my undergraduate education from The Pennsylvania State University and completed a doctorate in Design of Learning Environments from Rutgers University.

Work Experience: I worked as a teacher in the West Morris Regional High School District for thirteen years before becoming the Supervisor of Social Studies in the Roxbury School District. I also worked as the  Director of Planning/Research & Evaluation in the district from 2019 through 2021. I am very excited to be part of the Lincoln Roosevelt community where I get to work alongside amazing educators in my current role as assistant principal.

Philosophy: I believe in the power of education to open up the world for students. I also believe that rich school communities can help create the support necessary to encourage resilient and empathetic citizens. I hope to continuously push to ensure that Roxbury stays on the cutting edge of well-rounded educational opportunities for our students.

“Education is the point at which we love the world enough to assume responsibility for it and by the same token save it from that ruin which, except for renewal, except for the coming of the new and young would be inevitable.” - Hannah Arendt
