Student of the Month

  • The student recognition program at Roxbury High School is designed to identify model students. Recognizing student achievement helps to create a more positive school climate and culture. Also, it reinforces the ideals of hard work, determination, perseverance, and persistence.  Each month a student will be recognized as “Student of the Month” in one of 11 subject areas.

On occasion, students may be recognized for outstanding citizenship. The recognized student exemplifies a strong commitment to going above and beyond in helping others.

Students will be nominated by teachers based on the following criteria:

    • Responsibility
    • Character
    • Behavior
    • Good grades or improvement in grades
    • Participation
    • Respect to peers, faculty, and staff
    • Overcoming challenges
    • Setting a good example for peers

Teachers can base their nominations on other attributes not listed. Final selections of students will be done by the assistant principal and a committee of teachers. Each month, from October through May, these students will have their photos posted on the TV in the main lobby and on a bulletin board in E hall designated for "Student of the Month". These students will also be acknowledged on our RHS website. All students recognized will be presented with a navy blue RHS drawstring gym bag, a coupon for a breakfast sandwich at Roxbury Bagels, sub sandwich at Jersey Mike's, and a coupon for ice cream at Cliff's Homemade Ice Cream.
