  • What is the cost?

    Posted by:

The cost for the program is $325 per child per month. There is a registration fee of $75. The initial payment is $400. This money is used to pay the instructors and provides supplies for the program. The Board of Education does not subsidize this program; it is self-supporting. (Payments are due a month in advance, on the first Friday of each month after initial $400 is paid.) Example: September 6, 2013 a payment of $325 will be due for October enrollment.

  • What curriculum do you follow?

    Posted by:

We use the Creative Curriculum, which promotes both individual and group work. Each classroom has the same general set up. Centers are Blocks & Legos, Dramatic Play, Library, Discovery & Art.  The teachers coordinate their plans with the morning kindergarten staff to maximize the learning experience for each child. Our staff also participates in Professional Development Opportunities with District Teachers and attends District In- Service days.

  • What time do the students eat lunch?

    Posted by:

A lunch schedule is established at each school.  Please provide a lunch and snack each day.  Some of our schools actually eat in the cafeteria and are supervised by their teacher while others have lunch time in their classroom. Food allergies are a challenge in our schools.  You will be notified if there is a child with an allergy so we can be extra careful to provide the safest environment for them! School lunches and milk can also

be purchased.  The teacher will send a note home when the schedule begins.

  • Do the children get a break or recess?

    Posted by:

Of course…after lunch the children are able to have a recess period, weather permitting.  Its a great time for them to unwind and have fun!  This time is also supervised by our staff. In the beginning, some children are impacted by the long day.  The teachers have created some areas for the children to relax if needed.

  • How do I sign up?

    Posted by:

First, you must register your child for Kindergarten. Once the registration has been complete, the staff will provide you with an application for Wrap-Around. Please do not delay as classes fill up rather quickly. We must determine the number of sections needed per school.  Please visit our website at  www.roxbury.org/comschool or speak with the Roxbury Community School Coordinator Ameerah Palacios at apalacios@roxbury.org  or call 973-584-6799.
